Visual Basic .Net programmer

Job Duties
Develop database applications and create corresponding reports utilizing available data elements for efficient use on a network system. Analyze and modify existing database programs and reports written in Microsoft Excel, VB.Net, and Access. Provide ad hoc reports and front end applications using the Structured Query Language (SQL). Ensure that developed applications meet mutually agreed performance criteria worked out in advance with end users. Work with users throughout the company in designing complex application systems. Determine source data from mainframe for downloading purposes. Teach and support users, advise users, stored procedures to view or update the data in these periodic extracts, which are used by web based front-ends. Redesign and implement migration of mission critical database to SQL Server. Develop data entry and reporting software for Microsoft Internet Explorer using a variety of tools including Microsoft Visual Studio.Net, Visual Basic, Component Object Model, Microsoft Transaction Server, Active Server Pages, Internet Information Server, HTML. Maintain, document and support the SQL Server.
Job Qualifications
Required working knowledge of Windows and Windows-based software applications. Ability to program in the following languages:
Access, VB.Net 2005, SQL, HTML, VBA, Visual Basic, Foxpro. Required working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Internet Information Server, Microsoft Transaction Server, Active Server pages. Ability to quickly learn and become proficient in new programming languages and technologies such as object-oriented programming and fourth generation languages. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical and administrative information to identify relevant concerns and recognize alternatives, and to formulate logical and objective conclusions. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in team-oriented environment; to follow through on assignments with minimal direction; and to independently prioritize work. Demonstrated oral communications skills to speak effectively on a one-to-one basis and in groups having a wide range of computer literacy, to convey information, and to clarify conceptual issues and policy matters. Highly developed interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, faculty and administrators. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and competing priorities.
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or equivalent field
Programming experience in Java, PHP, Python, Ruby, .NET and JavaScript.
Experience, with increasing responsibilities, programming, analyzing, and designing software systems, interacting/negotiating with users and working as a part of a software development team
Experience programming using VB.Net, ASP.NET, C++/C#, T-SQL, CSS, Javascript and JQuery
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact successfully with people in person and on the telephone
Working knowledge of object-oriented analysis and design
Demonstrated capability to analyze and design database systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience performing in multifaceted projects with deadlines and deliverables
Demonstrated expertise in distributed system design and implementation

Preferred qualifications
Strong web application or mobile application development experience.
Experience as a committer in an open source project.
Knowledge of XML, with experience using SOAP or REST web services.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
Understanding of and experience with Early Hearing Detection and Intervention programs
Familiarity with various protocols and data models commonly used in public health systems
Responsibilities
Analyze user requirements, design, test, implement and document software solutions for tracking and data management associated with Early Hearing Detection and Intervention programs.
Design and develop user interfaces and business layer objects for tracking and data management which optimize performance and usability.
Coordinate actively as a team member in development efforts.
Respond to alpha testing and beta testing results of the tracking and data management system.
Serve as a resource for help desk staff to resolve difficulties encountered by users.
